Episode 23: What do you do when you get what you want?

Fantastic job! Way to go! You did it! Have you ever accomplished a goal and heard some of these words of celebration from the people who are rooting you on? It feels good, doesn’t it? Typically, how long does that feel good for? How well do you celebrate your accomplishments in life?

In this episode, I share some of my own revelations after returning home from Costa Rica where I completed my goal of attending three weeks of Spanish language school. I found that when someone congratulated me or had that excited response upon my return of, “That must have been amazing!” some of that excitement resonated and some of it did not. Why is that I wondered? Was I not grateful enough?

This conversation draws us into the space together and considers the different parts of our humanity that are within us that are influenced and influence how we choose what we desire and what we want to accomplish.

I parse apart the difference between goals and desires and the unique gems each can hold for us. I discuss how we can acknowledge a broader range of how we can celebrate the different versions of ourselves that contribute to our accomplishments. I hope you enjoy exploring with me, “What happens when you get what you want?” and perhaps you will find your own personal treasures along the way.
